This group trip is a perfect combination of breathtaking nature in the Amazon, lots of fascinating culture, the vibrant urban jungles of Rio and São Paulo, a literal wonder of the world, legendary beaches of Copacabana and Ipanema, and some of the most unique views and iconic places in the world. Rainforest, Rhythms & World Wonders
Day 1-2: Across the ocean, and… Bem vindo!
Today we take an international flight from Brussels to São Paulo . We travel from Guarulhos airport to the north of the country and arrive in Manaus , capital of the Brazilian state of Amazonas . Here we recover from the long journey and prepare for a four-day Amazon adventure .
Day 3: Into the rainforest
We leave Manaus in the morning towards the jungle. By bus and boat we travel deeper into the Amazon rainforest . Once we arrive at the lodge on the banks of the Rio Urubu , we have lunch and prepare for the canoe trip to Igapo . Here we explore the rainforest at a unique moment, when the rivers overflow their banks and transform the landscape into an enchanting water paradise. We sail between the trees instead of walking on paths : an exclusive experience that only a few get to experience and an ultimate introduction to the Amazon rainforest!
Day 4: 100% unique sunrise
We get up extra early to experience a beautiful sunrise on the water, the Rio Urubu. Absolute silence is recommended during this trip, because the sounds of the jungle in combination with this once-in-a-lifetime sunrise make the experience even more spectacular. We also try to encounter both pink and gray dolphins! Furthermore, there is a walk through the forest with a focus on medicinal plants and in the evening we go out by boat again to spot caimans. During this night boat trip we can see the universe and the Milky Way without any light pollution from the water.
Day 5: Deeper into the jungle…
On day three of the Amazon adventure, a visit to a local family is planned. Here we learn how to survive in the rainforest , essential jungle knowledge that will come in handy later. After a somewhat longer (guided) trek through the rainforest , we set up camp under the lush Amazon foliage and prepare for the ultimate night in the Brazilian jungle. In harmony with nature, we spend the night in a hammock in the forest.
Day 6: Sloths and other critters
Just before the last breakfast in our Amazon lodge (and hopefully a refreshing shower), we go out again by canoe to spot sloths, birds and other animals on the banks of the river. Afterwards we travel back to civilization (Manaus), before flying to the bustling São Paulo.
Day 7: On to São Paulo, a cidade da garõa
After the café da manhã (breakfast) there is some free time until we explore one of the largest urban jungles in the world on foot in the afternoon, São Paulo . This melting pot of cultures is with over 23 million inhabitants the largest metropolis in the southern hemisphere and the city of millions is the economic heart of Brazil. Around noon we go for an extensive walking tour through the old city center. We end in the beautiful Pinacoteca museum for modern art at the historic metro station Luz.
Day 8: From avenida to rooftop
We leave the hotel for a second walking tour that takes us along Avenida Paulista , the main avenue of the city. Then we take a bike ride through Ibirapuera park , the Central Park of Sampa. In the evening we leave by bus to Paraty.
Day 9: Natural beauty by kayak
We start our stay in Paraty! After a quiet morning (and depending on the tides) we prepare ourselves for an interesting (and physically somewhat strenuous) kayak trip . The view of colonial Paraty from the water is phenomenal. The natural beauty of the Costa Verde , the forest, the mangroves and islands around Paraty make this experience wonderful. We end the day with a walk through this colonial coastal town .
Day 10: Waterfalls and caipirinhas
Today we visit some of the most beautiful waterfalls around Paraty. After breakfast, we travel by 4×4 to the Serra da Bocaina National Park . We also walk a short part of the Caminho do Ouro and learn more about the production process of the famous Cachaça de Paraty during a visit to the distillery . Of course, there is plenty of time for tasting afterwards!
Day 11: Through the (jungle) forest to Rio
Since we are staying in Paraty at Jabaquara beach, and if the weather permits of course, it is time to plan some beach time in the morning. In the afternoon we head towards Rio de Janeiro, via the gigantic Mata Atlântica or Atlantic Forest, one of the oldest forests in the world. During this bus ride you will enjoy the beautiful views.
Day 12: Cariocas and other wonders of the world
On our first day in this iconic resort town, we’ll visit the famous **Christ the Redeemer** statue at the top of **Corcovado Mountain** and enjoy the breathtaking views over the city. To avoid the crowds – after all, Cristo Redentor is a **Wonder of the World** and a tourist hotspot – we’ll set off early today with our local guide. Later, we’ll also pass through **Parque Lage**, the lush **Botanical Garden**, and visit **Rocinha**, the city’s largest slum or **favela**. As mentioned, Brazil, and Rio in particular, is a place of extremes.
Day 13: Urban Rio
Today we start in **Centro**, the historical heart of the city. This guided walk takes us past the **Confeitaria Colombo**, the **Teatro Municipal** and the **Selarón stairs**, ending in the cozy and colorful **Santa Teresa** neighborhood.
For those who want, today there is the possibility to book a **paragliding** **flight** (for an additional fee). From the **Tijuca** **forest** you fly together with a professional guide towards the beach and the ocean. A unique experience and an absolute must!
Day 14: Cable cars and other hikes
Today we meet our Carioca guide again, who will lead us this time to the famous **Sugarloaf Mountain** or Pão de Açúcar. We take the cable car to the top and are rewarded again with spectacular views over the city and the **Atlantic Ocean**. Later in the day we will visit the beach of **Ipanema**, Oscar Niemeyer’s **Sambadrome** and the famous **Maracanã stadium**.
Day 15: Cycling after The Girl from Ipanema
On our last full day in Rio de Janeiro we explore the city by bike. Our bike takes us to countless legendary locations and panoramic viewpoints. Lapa, Botafogo, Guanabara Bay, Flamengo Beach, these are just some of the places we visit during this bike tour. After this we continue south!
Day 16: Waterfalls and a pit stop in Argentina
The last part of this tour through Brazil takes us to the state of Paraná, located in the south of the country. We leave the capital Curitiba aside for a while to focus on the natural beauty of the Parque Nacional do Iguaçu. We first visit the Argentinean side of the national park. With a system of 275 waterfalls in total and a dizzying water flow of 12 million liters per second, the Iguaçu Falls are absolutely unique.
Day 17: Postcard photos and adrenaline boating
We start the ultimate day of our Brazil trip in the **Parque das Aves**. This **bird sanctuary** is the only institution in the world dedicated to the preservation of the beautiful and exuberant birds of the Atlantic Forest. We end our last day in beauty in the middle of the **Iguaçu Falls**. The Brazilian side of the national park may be less extensive than the Argentinian side, but the views of the waterfalls here are absolutely breathtaking. We end on a high with a **boat trip to the foot of the waterfalls: adrenaline (and a soaked outfit) guaranteed!**
Day 18-19: Até logo, Brazil!
After our last Brazilian night we fly back to São Paulo, where our flight to Europe leaves in the evening. We expect to be back in Brussels before noon on Saturday 30 August 2025.
For whom?
For anyone with a healthy sense of (urban) adventure , a love of nature , group feeling and who would like to experience (this version of) the real Brazil. It is an active holiday , with a well-filled program, but in the evening you will sleep comfortably in a lodge, hotel or B&B/guest room (pousada). The activities are feasible for everyone, provided a good basic condition. This trip offers the perfect balance between cities and national parks , nature and culture plus action and tranquilidade , rest.
Accommodation
We mainly stay in comfortable hotels and pousadas (B&B), based on private twin rooms for two people, including bathroom. Only in Paraty we cannot guarantee this (for now) and we share some larger rooms. During the trip in the Amazon rainforest we sleep in lodges (exclusively for our group) and also in a hammock in the rainforest.

FAQ
The price of the group trip includes the international flight from Brussels to São Paulo, all domestic flights in Brazil such as to Manaus and Foz do Iguaçu, private transportation with a comfortable bus between São Paulo, Paraty and Rio de Janeiro, overnight stays in hotels, pousadas and a jungle lodge based on a double room with breakfast, a fully organized four-day Amazon experience including guided canoe trips and a stay in the jungle, all excursions and activities such as city walks, bike tours, a 4×4 nature trip, kayaking and access to museums and national parks, guidance by local English-speaking guides and a Dutch-speaking tour guide, and a nice Spotify playlist to get into the Brazilian mood.
Meals and drinks outside the Amazon area are at your own expense. Optional activities, such as paragliding in Rio, are also not included. Furthermore, travel insurance, personal expenses and tips are at your own expense.
The website does not provide detailed cancellation policies, but cancellation fees generally increase as the departure date approaches. Taking out travel insurance is not mandatory but is strongly recommended. This insurance covers cancellation, medical expenses and loss of luggage, among other things. For exact terms and conditions, please contact me.
You will need a valid international passport that is valid for at least six months after returning to Belgium. Travel insurance is also recommended. For some parts of Brazil, a vaccination against yellow fever is recommended, so it is wise to have your vaccination booklet with you. Also, do not forget your bank card or credit card that can be used internationally, and some cash for small expenses.
Use a flexible travel bag instead of a hard suitcase, with a maximum weight of 21 kg. A small daypack is useful for excursions. Bring light clothing, swimwear and a warm sweater for cooler evenings. Also make sure you have sturdy walking shoes and possibly water shoes. Essential items are a good mosquito repellent with DEET (50%), sunscreen, a headlamp or flashlight, a quick-drying towel and a small first aid kit. Optionally, you can also bring a camera, binoculars and portable speaker for on the road.
